Fire destroys Tennessee Tech frat house

The Cookeville Fire Department responded to a fire following a party at a Tennessee Tech University fraternity house early Saturday morning.

The fire destroyed the Sigma Alpha Epsilon house, bringing down the building’s walls and leaving the foundation. A firefighter encountered a shoulder injury, but no other injuries were reported, according to Lt. Chris Westmoreland.

The fire department got the call close to 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning, the day the fraternity planned to move to a new location. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, Westmoreland said.

“It was pretty much burnt to the ground,” Westmoreland said. “It was fully involved when we got there. There was no way we could make entry.”
