The drying process was underway mid-afternoon to ready Bristol Motor Speedway for the Food City 500. BMS officials tweeted that the race was expected to start soon.
The following are statements issued earlier from BMS General Manager Jerry Caldwell:
“At this time, the NASCAR Sprint Cup pre-race and Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway are on hold due to weather. There appears to be a mid to late afternoon window and we are hopeful to begin drying the track at that time for the running of the event. More information on www.bristolmotorspeedway.com as it becomes available.”
"In an effort to start the Food City 500 as quickly as possible, NASCAR has made the decision to shorten pre-race ceremonies and driver introductions. As a result, fans credentialed for pre-race events are not being permitted to re-enter the infield. We apologize for the change but remain hopeful to run the entire Food City 500 today."comments powered by Disqus
