KINGSPORT — A Knoxville man allegedly chose the wrong store — Victoria's Secret in the Kingsport Town Center — and the wrong time — as an off-duty cop was shopping with his girlfriend — to steal 59 pairs of panties and 22 yoga pants.

The Scott County deputy gave chase after witnessing the suspect dash out with a bag full of the items, valued at $1,329, and apprehended him in the parking lot outside the mall, according to an arrest report.

Kingsport police said the theft occurred at approximately 4:45 Thursday afternoon. A Victoria's Secret manager told police that the suspect, later identified as Bryan K.Harwell, 43, of 3021 Riflerange Road, Knoxville, concealed the clothing in a bag. As he fled from the store, the alarm activated.
