Unicoi, Hampton sectional basketball games moved to Tuesday

March 3rd, 2014 8:57 am by Douglas Fritz

Unicoi County's Class AA sectional basketball game at Strawberry Plains Carter has been postponed tonight because of potential for icy roads.
It has been rescheduled for Tuesday night at 7 p.m.

Other area teams called their games off as well. In Class A, Hampton's game against Knoxville Grace Christian was postponed and moved to Tuesday at 7 p.m.

TSSAA officials were advising teams statewide to move their games to Tuesday.

Also in Class AA, Greeneville's home game against Christian Academy of Knoxville was moved to Tuesday. And in Class AAA, Dobyns-Bennett's home sectional game against Oak Ridge was rescheduled for Tuesday.
Unicoi County head coach John English said not playing is a tough thing because his team was ready.
"Being ready and preparing yesterday that you're playing today, and being mentally ready, and then all of a sudden you're not playing, it's tough," said English. "A game this big, you want to get the ball in the air and get on with it. Not wait 24 hours."
