Snow shovel beating: NE Tennessee man accused of attacking girlfriend for not paying probation fees

Robert David Coleman

ROGERSVILLE — An unemployed Hawkins County man is facing charges after allegedly beating his girlfriend with a snow shovel and putting a knife to her throat, among other things, because she apparently failed to pay his probation fees.

Robert David Coleman, 52, 485 Grassy Creek Road, Rogersville, is on probation for a DUI arrest in 2012, and he also has a DUI arrest pending from Feb. 4.

He was arraigned Monday in Hawkins County Sessions Court on charges including aggravated domestic violence and vandalism over $500. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on March 5.

The victim told Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Michael Allen that when she came home from work Saturday, her boyfriend, Coleman, was drunk.
