Fresh out of prison, man brought back to Carter Co. on meth charges

ELIZABETHTON — A man who had just completed his time in a North Carolina prison did not get to enjoy freedom on Monday. William Keith Largent, 56, was brought back to Carter County on outstanding methamphetamine charges.

Largent had been incarcerated at Mountain View Corrections in Spruce Pine, N.C. Carter County Deputy Salvatore Caccamo was waiting for Largent when he completed his obligation to North Carolina to bring him back to Tennessee on two outstanding charges.

The charges were initiating the process to manufacture methamphetamine and promotion of methamphetamine manufacture They stem from a grand jury indictment handed down March 6, 2006.

According to the indictment, Largent had acquired lye, lithium batteries, starter fluid, methanol, ammonia nitrate and other items on June 23, 2005.

Largent was booked into the Carter County Detention Center, with bond set at $50,000. He is scheduled to answer the charges in Criminal Court during the next reporting docket, which begins March 24.
