Police: Johnson City woman hit boyfriend with kitchen chair, threatened him with knife

Cynthia Brooke Spradlin

A Johnson City woman was arrested early Wednesday morning on a charge that she struck her boyfriend with a kitchen chair and threatened him with a knife.

Cynthia Brooke Spradlin, 21, 916 Pardee St., was charged with aggravated domestic assault.

Police said the incident took place at Spradlin's residence.

Jody Lee Carver, 21, waved down police on South Broadway Street about 11:40 p.m. Tuesday and reported the alleged assault. He told police he and Spradlin had been to Nappy's Bar and argued when they returned home.

Carver said Spradlin had punched him in the face several times, hit him with a kitchen chair and pushed him to the floor. He said she had threatened him with a knife and told him she would kill him if her baby were taken away. She then tackled him just outside the apartment as he was leaving, Carver told police.

She was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $15,000 bond and arraigned in Sessions Court later Wednesday.
