After three months of being closed off to motorists, a popular portion of South Roan Street has reopened.

According to a spokesperson for the city of Johnson City, the section of South Roan Street between State of Franklin Road and East Main Street reopened around 4 p.m. on Thursday.

A construction project there began in early September to improve the relatively short but well-traveled stretch of road.

Delays due to weather, a water pipe rupture and other unexpected discoveries have kept the road closed for longer than officials originally anticipated.
