An Elizabethton man faces charges after Johnson City police pulled him over for a broken brake light and then discovered drugs in his vehicle.
According to reports, an officer stopped the vehicle being driven by Jesse A. Teel, 22, 300 Mercedes Drive, Elizabethton, at approximately 11:30 p.m. Wednesday for the broken brake light.
While speaking with Teel, the officer reportedly could smell marijuana. Police K9 Rhino was called to do an exterior sniff of the vehicle. Rhino also alerted to the odor of narcotics.
A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered approximately 11 grams of marijuana packaged in eight separate baggies.
Teel was charged with possession of schedule VI drugs with the intent for resale and violation of the light law.
He was being held in the Washington County Detention Center on $10,000 bond. He was scheduled for arraignment Thursday afternoon.
