Mother to plead guilty on charges of child porn

Connie McCall

GREENEVILLE — A Johnson City mother who sold three of her children into child pornography production has agreed to plead guilty to one of the federal charges filed against her.

Ronnie and Connie McCall were indicted in U.S. District Court in October, charging the couple with production of child pornography, production of child pornography by parent, coercion and enticement of a minor and the selling of a child by parents.

The victims in the case are three of the McCalls’ four daughters, who were ages 5, 11, 14 and 16 at the time of the offenses. The youngest child was not involved in the pornography incidents, but was a victim in another child neglect case against the McCalls.

After the McCalls were arrested on the federal charges, the children were placed in state custody.

According to a plea agreement filed last week, Connie McCall has agreed to plead guilty to count two of the indictment — production of child pornography by a parent. The offense carries a prison sentence of 15 to 30 years and a maximum fine of $250,000.

A change of plea hearing is scheduled for Feb. 5.

Court records state that from Feb. 2, 2011, through Aug. 30, 2012, Connie McCall knowingly permitted three of her minor children to engage in sexually explicit conduct and assisted another person in this activity for the purpose of producing child pornography.

Prosecutors say the McCalls transported their three daughters to another location for this activity and were paid by a third, unrelated individual.

Ronnie McCall has not pleaded guilty to any of the charges and is scheduled to go to trial in March.

Prior to the federal charges, the McCalls were arrested by Johnson City police in July 2012 on child abuse and neglect charges after officers found their children living in deplorable conditions at Heritage Mobile Home Park off South Roan Street.

The couple pleaded guilty to the charges in August and were sentenced to three years probation.
