70’s and 80’s Soul Train Throw Back Party Fundraiser

Sponsored by Umoja Arts and Cultural, Inc. is a fundraiser to support the upcoming Umoja Festival held on August 8 & 9, 2014.  Umoja is Swahili for Unity and that is what the festival is all about, bringing all cultures together.

Soul Train was an American variety musical show that showcased the best and brightest R & B and hip hop entertainers.  The show was enjoyed by all cultures and everyone had a Saturday morning routine of cleaning the house and watching Soul Train.  All are welcome to come and enjoy the best music ever and dress in the fashion of the 70’s: bell bottoms, big collar shirts, mini skirts, platform shoes, leisure suits, Afro’s, and polyester.  80’s: sequins, spandex, leather, shoulder pads, big hair, braids, glitter, chains.

There will be a cash prize for the best dressed!  Scramble Board, Soul Train Line, and our DJ: One Dunn 2 Go.

This event will take place at The Charles, 308 East Main St., Johnson City, TN on January 11, 2014 from 8:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.
