All returned but the cash A woman told police she didn’t notice her purse was missing until she tried to check out at a store. After thinking it over, the woman remembered a couple circling her cart while she was in the store, and suspects they might have had something to do with it. Later, a person contacted the woman to say she had found the purse on a shelf at the store. When police contacted the woman who found the purse, she told officers she didn’t trust store employees to return it the rightful owner and instead reached out herself to return the purse. They met at a local gas station where the purse owner found everything still in the purse except some cash.

Crash on the railroad tracks An officer responded to a single-vehicle wreck where a witness said there was a woman passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle sitting on the railroad tracks. The officer found the unsteady woman a few blocks up the road from where the car was left. She reportedly smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech. The woman was uncooperative at first, telling the officer she would “fail that test anyway” when he asked her to perform a sobriety test. She did fail and was arrested for driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident and driving on a revoked license.

Punched while petting a cat While bending down to touch a cat in a church parking lot, a woman reported being punched and cut by a knife. After being hit, the woman said she deployed her Taser, but missed the attacker, who fled the scene. The woman called her pastor and then 911.

Family feud Officers responded to a domestic dispute where a woman claims she was beaten up by her boyfriend with whom she has a 3-year-old daughter. She said the fight escalated after her boyfriend began speaking badly about her father. The boyfriend agreed, saying the argument was about the woman’s father being a child molester. During the argument, the woman reportedly struck the boyfriend with a wooden chair and hit him in the face with a plate. However, police were unable to determine who was the primary aggressor in the situation.

Employee steals A shoe store manager told police one of his employees came to the store, removed the lock, got inside and stole three weeks’ worth of deposits, totaling over $2,000. The manager said the suspect had also trashed the store office, but it was unknown if anything else had been taken.

Wallet stolen from purse While taking pictures of her friend’s children at the mall, a woman later learned that her wallet was taken from her purse. As she was taking photos, a couple pushed closely to where the woman was standing with a baby stroller. Upon returning her camera to her purse, the woman realized her wallet was missing.

ISlap at IHOP After getting a text message that her ex-boyfriend was at a Johnson City IHOP with another female, a woman immediately went to the restaurant to confront the two. The ex-boyfriend said she slapped him across the face. She was arrested and brought to the Washington County Detention Center.
