Due to heavy rains in the region, Bristol Motor Speedway has closed the Speedway in Lights attraction Sunday night.
A news release from BMS said standing water has made the route impassable. This will be the first time Speedway in Lights has closed due to weather since Jan. 1, 2010. The Ice Rink and Chill Hill remain open.
“We have had certain areas affected in the past and have had time to create last-minute route changes,” BMS General Manager Jerry Caldwell said. “But our main concerns are the safety of our guests and their experience while they are here. As disappointing as it is, with possibly more rain in the forecast this evening, the proper decision is to cancel tonight’s activities. With no further issues, we expect to reopen Monday night.”
