Police say Johnson City man choked wife in argument

Andrew K. Burch

A 911 call alerting police that a man was back home a day after his wife accused of him of choking her last weekend resulted in his arrest.

Police charged Andrew K. Burch, 27, 2422 Charles St., with aggravated domestic assault.

About 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Burch's wife told police she and her husband had been in an argument that quickly turned physical. She said Burch grabbed her by the throat and choked her before he eventually shoved her aside and left the residence. Police said officers saw marks on the victim’s neck consistent with choking and defensive wounds.

Police could not find Burch on Sunday but obtained a warrant for his arrest.

On Monday, Burch's wife called 911 telling a dispatcher her husband was at the residence, and police arrested him.

He was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $20,000 bond and arraigned Tuesday in Sessions Court.
