Rose Marie Morris
ELIZABETHTON — A woman was convicted of four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor in Carter County Sessions Court on Monday.
Rose Marie Morris, 33, 112 Blevins Hollow Road, was arrested Dec. 6 by Carter County Sheriff's Deputy Shane Watson on six counts of contributing to the delinquency of a child.
Watson said he became involved in the case when he received a phone call from Rachel Barry, who said she was looking through the contents of her 15-year-old son’s cell phone and came across a video in which her son appeared to be consuming alcohol with Morris. Barry said she had given permission for her son to stay at the Morris home on Nov. 15.
Watson said he began investigating and found five other juveniles, including Morris’ two sons on Nov. 15. When he questioned one of the juveniles, Watson said the youth admitted to drinking Jack Daniels provided by Morris. He said she also allowed them to smoke marijuana at her residence.
On Monday in Sessions Court, Morris plead guilty to four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Judge John Walton fined her $25 and court costs on each of the four guilty pleas. She was sentenced to a year’s probation with Crossroads. Walton dismissed the remaining two counts.comments powered by Disqus
