Off the Wall News: The great washing machine scandal of NE Tennessee

ROGERSVILLE — The original industrial washing machines at Hawkins County’s two main high schools survived 33 years, but their replacements didn’t make it through the fall season, forcing sports teams to hit the laundromats after games.

On Thursday the Hawkins County Board of Education authorized County Attorney Jim Phillips to file a lawsuit against Rogers Equipment Sales which installed a new industrial washing machine at Volunteer High School and Cherokee High School in late July. 

Assistant director of schools Steve Starnes told the BOE Thursday the manufacturer said both machines were installed improperly, which voided their warranty.
