Washington County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Shawn Judy said a shooting that took place Friday night near the Appalachian Fairgrounds in Gray appears to be self-inflicted.
Judy said the family members of the male victim were still speaking with investigators as of 1:30 p.m. Saturday, and that information would be released as soon as it becomes available.
The shooting took place at 691 Liberty Church Road in a duplex apartment about 9 p.m. Friday. As of 10 p.m. Friday, the victim was still alive and was taken to an area hospital.
Washington County sheriff’s deputies were investigating a shooting that occurred near the Appalachian Fairgrounds in Gray Friday night.
Deputies responded to 691 Liberty Church Road about 9:30 p.m. following the discovery of a man who had suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
The man, who deputies said was alive as of 10 p.m., was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries.
A next door neighbor heard a gunshot and called Washington County 911.
