Man accused of stealing baby formula from Johnson City grocery

An East Fairview Avenue man was arrested Tuesday on charges that he stole dozens of baby formula cans from a Johnson City grocery store with kids in tow.

James Rickey Kennedy, 32, 1315 E. Fairview Ave., was charged with theft over $500, three counts of criminal simulation and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

On Monday, police were called to the Kroger at 112 Sunset Drive, where employees reported that Kennedy had taken more than 40 cans of baby formula without paying. Police said Kennedy fled the store with more than $660 worth of product. He had two children with him at the time.

Police found him Tuesday and arrested him. He was held in the Washington County Detention Center on $3,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance Thursday.
