Police: Bristol man tied up, struck with shotgun in home invasion

BRISTOL — Police said an Avoca community resident was tied to a chair and struck with a shotgun during a home invasion in a trailer off U.S. Highway 11E Wednesday night.

Richard Cardinal, 58, told police he heard a knock at his door at 204 Big Valley Drive, and when he opened it, a white man wearing a gold bandana over his face pointed a shotgun at him and demanded money.

The robber tied Cardinal to a chair and began searching the house. Cardinal got his hands loose, but the robber struck him with a shotgun and retied him.

The robber took medication, a small amount of cash, some change, an iPad, keys and two cell phones. He fled the trailer on foot, but Cardinal was not able to determine which direction he went.

The man was described as about 6 feet tall and thin with a scruffy beard and dirty blond hair. He was wearing mechanic’s coveralls.

Police got to the trailer about 9:30 p.m. and found Cardinal suffering from minor lacerations on his face and head.

Police asked anyone with information regarding this home invasion to contact Inv. Mike Anderson at 423-989-5568, call 423-764-TIPS (8477) or send e-mail to tips@bristoltn.org.
