Driver escapes injuries when car hit from behind

ELIZABETHTON –– A driver sustained non-incapacitating injuries Thursday morning when his car was struck in the rear end by a pickup truck in the 300 block of West Elk Avenue.

Officer Doug Combs of the Elizabethton Police Department reported that James David Burrow, 22, Long Hollow Road, was attempting to make a left turn into the parking lot of 332 W. Elk Avenue from the leftmost westbound lane.

Aaron Christopher Ritche, 41, Midnight Drive, told Combs he looked down in his Chevrolet S-10 truck and did not see that Borrow had come to a stop in front of him. Ritchie struck Burrow's Dodge Neon in the rear.

Combs said Burrow was trapped in his car and had to be extricated. He was then transported to the Johnson City Medical Center by the Carter County Rescue Squad.

Combs cited Ritchie with failing to exercise due care. He cited Burrow with no proof of insurance.
