Jeffers stays right on track as Boone coach

Len Jeffers was a member of Daniel Boone’s 1981 state championship cross country team.
Thirty-two years later, Jeffers is not only the Trailblazers’ head coach, he was recently named the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association boys cross country coach of the year for 2012-13.
“It’s a very humbling honor,” said Jeffers. “So very unexpected. When I got the letter from the TSSAA I really didn’t know who to thank for being selected. It really is kind of overwhelming. This honor goes back to all the work my teams have put in. This is truly a reflection of them and their accomplishments. They have brought a lot of notoriety to Daniel Boone High School.”
After graduating from Boone, Jeffers attended East Tennessee State and had the opportunity to work with some local high school athletes, helping them in their training.
