Update: Woman charged with beating friend with bat at downtown Johnson City apartment

Brittany Nicole Taylor

A woman beat another woman with a baseball bat during an argument Tuesday at a downtown Johnson City apartment, resulting in an aggravated assault charge, police said.

Brittany Nicole Taylor, 20, 111 W. Unaka Ave., No. 6, turned herself into police on Wednesday after the incident at her apartment a day earlier.

Emergency crews had found another 20-year-old woman, Morgan Langett, 20, at the apartment with injuries requiring medical attention. At Johnson City Medical Center, she told police her friend, Taylor, had beaten her with a baseball bat after an argument started between the two over Langett's ex-boyfriend.

Langett told police Taylor had taken her cell phone so that she could not call for help as she struck her with the bat. Langett escaped and ran into another apartment for help.

Taylor was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $50,000 bond and arraigned Thursday in Sessions Court.
