Police charge man with robbing Johnson City convenience store at knifepoint

Johnson City police made an arrest Wednesday in the recent armed robbery of a South Roan Street convenience market.


Jerry Deyton, 4901 Unicoi Drive, was charged with aggravated robbery and theft of Property under $500.


The arrest resulted from an investigation into the Sept. 21 robbery of the Roadrunner Market at 2607 S. Roan St.


Police had released images of the robber to the news media after the store was robbed by a man who showed a knife. The robbery happened just after 2 a.m. The man ran from the store with an undisclosed amount of money.


Deyton was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $50,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance Thursday.
