Johnson City man charged with choking girlfriend

Michael Earp

A Johnson City man was arrested for domestic assault after an argument between he and his girlfriend turned physical, police said.

Johnson City police said upon arriving to 1005 Buffalo St. for a domestic assault call, they met with Michael Earp.

Police said during the argument, Earp, 29, climbed on top of his girlfriend on a bed and choked her with her hands and covered her mouth with one hand to prevent her from shouting while pinning her down with his legs.

While talking with the victim, police saw several abrasions on the right side of her neck, a cut on her nose and a bruise over her right eye. Police placed Earp under arrest for domestic aggravated assault.

Earp was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where he was being held on $50,000 bond. His arraignment is schedule for Monday at 1:45 p.m. in Sessions Court.
