KINGSPORT — One of the former owners of the Ultimate Smoke shop in Kingsport will not face prison time for his involvement in the business, mainly due to his substantial cooperation with law enforcement during the investigation of the case.
Most notably, renting space above the shop to the Kingsport Police Department to use as a monitoring station.
Jason Glenn Catoe, of Jonesborough, and his half-brother Kory Neal Wiesner, of Washington County, agreed to plead guilty earlier this year to a charge of structuring currency transactions to evade reporting requirements. Catoe has also agreed to plead guilty to possession of Schedule I drugs with intent to distribute.
The charges are in connection to the selling of synthetic marijuana and bath salts at the Ultimate Smoke shop for about a year in 2011-2012 and the structuring of more than $288,000 in deposits to Eastman Credit Union in a way as to avoid detection by the Internal Revenue Service.Keep reading at TimesNews.net.
