Sheriff: High speeds and alcohol a factor in late-night crash that killed Johnson City man

A single-car wreck in Gray late Thursday night left a Johnson City man dead, and investigators said speed and alcohol were considered factors.

Washington County Sheriff Ed Graybeal said Christopher Stamm, 30, 421 Jessica’s Way, was driving toward Freehill Road on Hideaway Hills Road in his 2002 Honda Civic just before midnight when he drove off of the right side of the road and struck a culvert.

Stamm, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected through the windshield and died at the scene of the wreck.

An investigation was ongoing by the sheriff’s office. The sheriff said speed and alcohol were considered factors.
