Johnson City man faces a dozen auto burglary charges

Kirk A. Trent

A Johnson City man was arrested Monday on multiple auto burglary and theft charges.

Kirk A. Trent, 44, was charged with 12 counts of auto burglary, five counts of theft over $1,000, four counts of theft over $500 and three counts of theft under $500.

Between November and December, Johnson City Police Department investigators looked into multiple auto burglaries.

Trent was arrested on Dec. 28 on charges of leaving the scene of an accident, failure to exercise due care, violation of the financial responsibility law and two counts of burglary.

Searching his apartment and vehicles, police found several items reported stolen from the auto burglaries, police said in a news release.

Trent was already in the Washington County Detention Center when warrants were served for the auto burglary and theft charges on Monday. A $162,000 bond resulted from the charges, and he was to be arraigned Tuesday in Sessions Court.
