Road rage incident leaves Kingsport police looking for answers, seeking public's help

KINGSPORT — Police are seeking two motorcyclists, one who punched a mirror off a car and caused both motorcycles to wreck, for a road rage incident.

The incident began on the evening of Sept. 6 when the victim was traveling southbound on North Eastman Road near Spring Street.

Two motorcycles approached the victim, driving a Ford Expedition, from behind and raced past him. According to the KPD, the victim was "shocked" at the recklessness and made a gesture toward the drivers by sticking his hand out the window.

The motorcyclists then slowed down to allow the victim to catch back up with them, according to the police report. When both motorcycles pulled alongside the vehicle, one reached out and punched the driver's side rearview mirror, which caused the glass and plastic housing to shatter.
