The Celtic Festival at Sycamore Shoals in Elizabethton gets under way tonight at 7 and continues through Sunday.

Blue Mother Tupelo performs on the courthouse steps in Jonesborough tonight at 7. The bands offers original Southern soul. In a paint-peeled, time-worn truth style, they’ll take you down dirt roads to swamp land, covered in lace or burlap. Information:

On Sunday from 3-5 p.m., the Historic Tree Streets Music in the Park will feature The ETSU Bluegrass Band. The concert will be in Veterans Park, 1005 Southwest Ave. Bring your lawn chair or your blanket and spend a relaxing afternoon under the shade trees. Admission is free. Donations for the musicians will be appreciated. Information:

Sycamore Shoals Celtic Festival in Elizabethton gets under way tonight at 7 with the “Torchlight Calling of the Clans” and continues Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission: $7 per day; $20 for weekend; $12 for Ceilidh Concert Saturday. Information: or 543-5808.

The 24th annual Tree Street Yard Sale gets underway Saturday, rain or shine. Johnson City Police estimate over 15,000 people from all over the region and several neighboring states attend the yard sale annually. The 35-block sale area is bounded by University Parkway, West Walnut and South Roan Street. Information:
