BRISTOL — Three people were hospitalized Thursday after their vehicle slammed into a Bristol Kmart, causing major damage to the store.
The crash happened about 7:15 p.m. at the Kmart at 2854 W. State St. Police said the occupants had serious injuries, and the Bristol Fire Department had to cut them out of the vehicle because of the damage.
All three were taken to Bristol Regional Medical Center. Police did not have information regarding their conditions, and their names were not released.
Witnesses told police the vehicle had pulled from a parking lot of an adjacent business and accelerated to high speed. The vehicle continued across West State into the Kmart parking lot and struck the building.
The crash remained under investigation.
