Warriors next in line to greet Rebels to Three Rivers

It’s time for area football teams to dive into conference action.
Included in the mix are a trio of Three Rivers Conference contests, highlighted by Happy Valley playing host to Sullivan South. Kickoff is scheduled for tonight at 7:30.
Also in the Three Rivers, Sullivan North hits the road to battle Unicoi County while Elizabethton is at home to take on Sullivan East.
In the Class A Mountain East Conference, the key game is Unaka traveling to play Hampton.
And in the Blue Ridge Conference, Greeneville is at home to meet Chuckey-Doak.

Sullivan South (2-0) at Happy Valley (1-1) — Everybody gets their welcome-the-Rebels-to-the-league contest this season, and this is the Warriors’ chance.
Unfortunately for most teams, South probably won’t be a gracious host or a kind visitor.
“They run the ball well and are equally scary throwing the ball,” said Warriors’ head coach Larry Shively. “We will have to play a near perfect game to keep up. But I know our kids will play hard and compete at every stop.”
———
Sullivan North (1-1) at Unicoi County (1-1) — Points haven’t been hard to come by for the Blue Devils, but the opponents have also been scoring at a high clip.
North boasts it usual ground-oriented offense while the Blue Devils have been successful on the ground with Luke Fronckowski (301 yards) and through the air with quarterback Lucas Hensley (237 yards).
———
Sullivan East (1-1) at Elizabethton (1-1) — Coming off its first win since 2010, and doing it in grand fashion with a 31-0 whipping of Unaka, the Patriots enter this game with confidence.
But they are still a big underdog, facing the task of slowing down Cyclones’ running back Ethan Thomas, who has gained 444 yards rushing in two games.
———
Johnson County (0-1) at Grayson County, Va. (1-0) — It’s a decent little bus ride of about two hours for the Longhorns, who will face a Class A opponent with a record of 27-9 over the last three seasons.
———
Unaka (0-2) at Hampton (0-2) — The Rangers have allowed 71 points this season while the Bulldogs have surrendered 73.
However, Hampton (55 points) has been much more proficient at getting the ball in the end zone than Unaka, which hasn’t scored a point.
———
Cloudland (2-0) at Cosby (0-2) — It’s two ends of the spectrum here as the Eagles have gotten wiped out in each of their games while the Highlanders have earned two tough victories over rivals.
———
Chuckey-Doak (2-0) at Greeneville (1-0) — Even though the Black Knights have shown a little bite in their first two games, everything changes into a major underdog role.
The Greene Devils are showing signs of having another state-title contender team.
