A Johnson City man charged earlier this month with several car burglaries was given an additional burglary charge Thursday.
Johnson City police originally charged Marcus Stewart Wright, 18, 412 W. 9th Ave., with two counts of auto burglary on Aug. 4.
That day, a witness reportedly saw him breaking into vehicles near 601 Fall St. and detained him until police arrived.
Police said Wright was in possession of a backpack that contained stolen property. Police said further investigation revealed a GPS unit had been taken from a vehicle at 1101 John Exum Parkway.
Wright found by police Thursday at the Washington County Courthouse and charged with auto burglary and theft of property under $500.
He was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where he was being held on $11,000 bond.
Wright was scheduled to appear in Sessions Court Friday.
