ETSU medical student escapes from captivity at hotel in Kenya

An East Tennessee State University recently escaped from captivity at a hotel in Kenya after a three-day ordeal, a university spokesman confirmed this afternoon.

Logan A. Key, a fourth-year student at the James H. Quillen College of Medicine, was one of three students who was held from Friday through Sunday by guards behind fencing at the Gilly Hotel in Migori, Kenya. They were working at a hospital in Migori.

The students reportedly were detained over bills that were not paid by their agent, according to web reports from Kenyan news organizations.

The trio escaped Sunday in the night after the guards fell asleep.
