Johnson City police Thursday released surveillance images from the armed robbery of a West Market Street liquor store in hopes of public assistance in identifying the robber.

AAA Package Store, 910 W. Market St., was robbed about 10 p.m. Monday.

The robbery was caught on video. The robber was described as a black male, from 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall, from 200-220 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a black t-shirt, tan cargo shorts and a solid black baseball cap with a round gold sticker on the bill of the cap.

Police said the man showed a handgun and attacked the clerk, holding his head down on the counter while demanding cash from the register.

According to a police report, the robber took approximately $260 from the register and ran out of the store toward the back of the building. The clerk was not injured, police said.

Police asked anyone with any information on the robber's possible identity to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 423-434-6166.
