KINGSPORT — Two judges assigned to the case of a Kingsport alderman arrested for driving under the influence in June have recused from hearing the case.

Judge Ray Conkin and Judge Mark Toohey were assigned to oversee the case of Jantry Shupe, 38. During roll call on Aug. 15, Conkin said he and Judge Toohey would recuse themselves from the case.

Shupe’s trial has been moved to Oct. 4, 2013 at 10 a.m. Judge Klyne Lauderback has agreed to oversee the case. It will take place in the Kingsport Justice Center.
