KINGSPORT — Findings of an investigation into June's shooting of a wanted man by Kingsport police will soon be presented to a grand jury, leaving the placement of any charges to their discretion.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was called in to compile a report on the June 11 incident, when a man sought on violation of probation and failure to appear warrants ran from officers onto the roof of a city home.
Approximately two and a half hours into negotiations to surrender, according to Kingsport Police Department Public Information Officer Tom Patton, the suspect made "threatening gestures towards the officers" with an unspecified weapon.
