Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 26 Monday afternoon.
According to a Johnson City police crash report, Delores J. Montgomery, 82, of Blairsville, Ga., was driving a 2011 Nissan Rouge around 1:30 p.m. Monday westbound on I-26, just before the Eastern Star Road exit, when she left the road for unknown reasons and struck a parked Ford F-150 truck driven by Jimmie J. Ryals, 58, of Johnson City.
The truck was parked on the shoulder of the interstate and was knocked into the ditch.
Delores Montgomery received an incapacitating injury, as did her passenger, Robert N. Montgomery, 91, also of Blairsville. They were taken to Holston Valley Medical Center.
Ryals reportedly received a non-incapacitating injury.
Both Montgomerys were trapped and required extrication by responding emergency personnel.
Traffic was backed up for a several miles until the crash scene could be cleared.
