Benefit 5k for county deputy injured in off-duty crash


The Washington County Sheriff’s office SWAT team will sponsor a Sgt. David “RoboCop” Chambers Benefit 5K at the Appalachian Fairgrounds, gate 5 at 8 a.m. Saturday. The entry fee is $25 and all proceeds will go to directly to the David Chambers Trust Fund. Chambers, a sheriff’s deputy, was severely injured in an off-duty vehicle crash in June. He is still hospitalized due to injuries he received in the crash. The run begins at 9 a.m. and registration is at 8 a.m.
