Homegrown Tomato Fest returns to Kingsport Farmer's Market

Dennis Marshall selects tomatoes for the ninth Annual Homegrown Tomato Fest set for Saturday, August 10 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Kingsport Farmer's Market on Clinchfield Street. 

Homegrown Tomato Fest, sponsored by the Southern Appalachian Plant Society and the Downtown Kingsport Association, features tomato contests for the best tasting, biggest, prettiest, ugliest, most bizarre, best salsa and best dressed tomato.

Along with free tomato tasting and refreshments, advice on growing tomatoes, activities for kids and culinary demonstrations will be held. 

Admission is free and there are no entry fees for the tomato contests.

Entry forms may be downloaded from the SAPS website, www.saps.us or picked up at the Downtown Kingsport Association and Ward's Feed Store. Entries will be accepted from 8 to 9 a.m. for  all contests. Winners will be announced at 10:00 a.m.
