Update: Erwin woman killed in Telford crash; pickup driver who fled scene identified. An Erwin woman was killed Thursday in a hit-and-run crash in western Washington County.


Update: Body identified in fatal north Johnson City house fire. A homeowner died early Friday morning in a house fire in Boones Creek.

Police cruisers rammed in high-speed chase through Carter Co.; man faces numerous charges. ELIZABETHTON — A high-speed pursuit in which police reported two cruisers were struck and a head-on collision narrowly avoided ended in a crash and several charges for the driver. 


Texas man charged with stalking ex-girlfriend by planting recording device. A Texas man is accused of aggravated burglary and stalking after driving 1,500 miles from his home to Jonesborough to put a recording device in his ex-girlfriend’s home, according to court records.


Numerous domestic assault calls keep city, county officers busy. Local law enforcement agencies in Johnson City and Washington County have responded in the last week to numerous domestic assaults, which have included quarrels between family members and boyfriend and girlfriend disputes.


Carter Co. man accused of operating indoor marijuana growing system; cash and gun seized. ELIZABETHTON — A Carter County man was arrested recently on charges he had an indoor marijuana growing operation.


Case of bus driver charged in crash still in limbo. Former school bus driver Brenda Gray cashed in her retirement to hire Michael LaGuardia to defend her against charges related to a crash that injured 39 students, but her defense is in limbo with her attorney’s death.


Elizabethton Police: Alcohol may have been factor in Wednesday crash. Police believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor in a head-on traffic crash Wednesday on West Elk Avenue near Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park in Elizabethton.


Carter Co. man charged with assaulting woman, threatening sheriff's deputy. ELIZABETHTON — A county man faces additional charges following his arrest on Thursday afternoon.


Attorney: Federal investigation result of denial of license to operate to methadone clinic in Johnson City. The attorney for a Georgia-based company recently denied a certificate of need to open a methadone clinic in Johnson City claims the city is now subject of a federal investigation.

2 injured when car hits concrete wall on West Walnut. A Telford man and his passenger were hospitalized Saturday after a car struck a concrete wall on West Walnut Street in Johnson City.


Flood victim gets new home one year later. One year after floodwaters destroyed her home of 70 years, 89-year-old Annabelle King of Cash Hollow was presented the keys to a newly constructed house Friday, one of 22 new homes built through the Washington County New Build project launched by Johnson City-based Appalachia Service Project in response to the flood of Aug. 5, 2012.


Washington County Board of Education votes to limit enrollment at four schools. Students in Washington County can no longer stray outside their designated zones to enroll in four overcrowded schools.
