Man charged after car runs down embankment

ROAN MOUNTAIN — An Elizabethton man escaped injury but faces several charges after his car ran off U.S. Highway 19E and went down an embankment early Saturday afternoon, police said.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Brad Hicks, 36, was charged with DUI (of drugs), driving on a suspended license and reckless driving. He was transported to the Carter County Detention Center in Elizabethton.

A THP report said Hicks was driving north U.S. 19E near Bear Cage Road when he lost control of his 1998 Mercury Sable, left the road and went down an embankment.
