Ronald Dale Acker
A Texas man is accused of aggravated burglary and stalking after driving 1,500 miles from his home to Jonesborough to put a recording device in his ex-girlfriend’s home, according to court records.
Ronald Dale Acker, 57, 3713 Edgewater Dr., Bedford, Tex., was arrested Friday afternoon after a woman said her ex-boyfriend went into her Main Street, residence uninvited.
According to an arrest warrant, Acker drove from Texas to Jonesborough and convinced the woman’s landlord to let him into the residence.
When the woman got home she noticed an orange glow coming from the back of her bed. That’s when she discovered a digital recording device attached to the back of the headboard.
The woman also found Acker coming from behind another building on the property, so she called the landlord and asked him to call 911.
When Jonesborough officers arrived they found Acker’s vehicle parked across the road, but hidden from view. While officers were talking to Acker, they noticed scratches on his arm and legs, which he said came from crawling around in the bushes around the residence.
Police also found an earring that belonged to the victim in Acker’s pocket, according to the warrant.
Acker was scheduled to be arraigned in Washington County General Sessions Court Monday afternoon. He was being held on a $50,000 bond.
