2 injured when car hits concrete wall on West Walnut

A Telford man and his passenger were hospitalized Saturday after a car struck a concrete wall on West Walnut Street in Johnson City.

Police said Jerry Hilbert, 68, 129 Valley Road, Telford, was driving a Honda Accord east on West Walnut when it left the road and struck the wall at St. Clair Street. Police were called about 8:45 p.m.

Hilbert and his passenger, Edwin Macy, 31, 3216 Mayfield Drive, No. 1, had to be extricated from the car.

Emergency Medical Services took both to Johnson City Medical Center. Police said Hilbert was in critical condition this morning with life-threatening injuries. Macy was listed in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Johnson City Police Department's Traffic Homicide Team was investigating. Police said speed was believed to be a factor in the crash.
