More than 20 artists and writers, both local and regional, will be guests at Rob Con 2013, the annual comic book, toy and fantasy convention set in Bristol at Viking Hall Saturday from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
A crowd favorite, the Batmobile replica, will be parked in front of Viking Hall during the convention. Jeremy Ambler, who has portrayed a zombie on AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” will be another guest.
Artists will include Gary Kwapisz from Lebanon, Va., who has worked on comics such as “The Punisher” and “Conan” and who is producing “Civil War Adventures.”
Other artists at the show will include Todd Goodwin from Old World Comics; Brett Cook and Clint Blevins, both from Bristol; Bridgit Scheide from Charlotte, N.C.; and Gene Tipton and Jeremy Massie of Wise, Va.
Making his first appearance at Rob-Con will be DC and Marvel comic book colorist Rico Renzi.
There also will be book authors represented, including Jennifer Estep, best known for her Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series; Bristol’s Misty Martin; and James Crawford and Natasha Lary.
A panel taught by Tangent Artist Studio’s Monica Marier and David Joria will demonstrate “How to Create an Online Comic.” Another popular event for Rob Con, the costume contest, begins at 3 p.m. with categories for children and adults.
Admission is $5 for adults. Children younger than 10 will be admitted free.
