Jimmy Rene Arnold
A drunken Johnson City man — tossed out of an acquaintances’s apartment late Wednesday — pulled a knife on a woman and tried to carjack her, according to a court document charging him in the incident.
It happened at 11:56 p.m. Wednesday.
Jimmy Rene Arnold, 21, 1008 Quality Circle, No. 29, is charged with carjacking, aggravated assault and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Johnson City Police Officers Chris Carney and Jeff Stork responded to a call about a man with a knife at Nathaniel Drive and Edna Court. When they arrived, they found a man matching the description they had received.
Later identified as Arnold, the man was unsteady on his feet and was holding a bottle of chocolate cream-flavored vodka, according to the arrest warrant.
When Carney began to pat Arnold down, a silver knife fell out of the man’s shorts. Officers also found a blue colored glass pipe with what they believed to be marijuana residue in Carney’s possession.
Witnesses told police that prior to their arrival Arnold had been left at an apartment by a friend after Arnold passed out on the couch. That friend never returned to get Arnold and the people who live there woke him up and said he couldn’t stay there.
“Arnold became belligerent and he grabbed a baseball bat and swung it,” at the resident. The bat hit the woman when she put her arm up to protect herself, according to the warrant. The woman and another person got Arnold out of the apartment and that’s when he approached another woman, Ramisha Oxendine, pulled the knife on her and demanded she give him her car keys or he’d kill her.
“She was handing him the keys and then she stated she told him she was going to spray him,” Carney wrote in the warrant. Oxendine has a can of pepper spray on her keychain.
That caused Arnold to back away and he threw his knife at Oxendine, then picked it up and ran off.
Arnold was arraigned on the charges in Washington County Sessions Court. He’s held on $10,000 bond and has a court hearing scheduled for July 25.
