James Alan Johnson
A man who had an active warrant tried concealing his identity from police after officers noticed he was not wearing a seatbelt.
Johnson City police stopped a car in which James Alan Johnson, 32, 2803 McKinley Road, was a passenger Wednesday.
Johnson was asked for his identification because he was not wearing a seatbelt.
Police said Johnson did not have is identification and provide a family member’s information.
Police soon determined who he really was and found out that Johnson had a warrant on file in Washington County.
Johnson told police he lied because he knew about the warrant and was scared.
He was charged with identity theft, false reporting and violation of the passenger seat belt law.
He was being held in the Washington County Detention Center on $15,000 bond.
Johnson was scheduled to be in court Thursday afternoon.
