Police: Staggering man in Johnson City burglarized vehicles, had drugs

A Bristol, Va., man was arrested on drug, burglary and identity theft charges in Johnson City early Monday morning.


Timothy L. Dorton, 28, 100 Moore St., Bristol, Va., was arrested about 4:30 a.m. after police saw him staggering on Roan Street. Police learned that he had broken into several cars in the area, police said in a news release.


Searching him, police found schedule I drugs and drug paraphernalia. Police also learned Dorton had given false information about his identity.


Dorton was charged with felony identity theft, a schedule I drug violation, unlawful drug paraphernalia possession, and burglary of motor vehicle.


He was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $40,000 bond and arraigned later Monday in Sessions Court.
