Former JCMC NICU nurse’s license put on probation

A registered nurse formerly employed in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Johnson City Medical Center has had her license placed on probation for three years and she has agreed to complete a rehabilitative monitoring contract with the Tennessee Professional Assistance Program.

According to a consent order entered in May by Alison Harrison, R.N., and an attorney representing the Tennessee Department of Health, the state Board of Nursing initiated disciplinary action against Harrison’s license after she came to work under the influence of alcohol Aug. 30.

Drug and alcohol screens conducted on the day of incident were negative for the presence of any drugs but showed Harrison’s blood-alcohol content was 0.325, more than four times the legal limit for driving of 0.08.

By agreement, the Board of Nursing stayed a revocation order against her nursing license in lieu of her completion of the TPAP contract and no less than three years of licensing probation.
