BIG STONE GAP, Va. — A large amount of drugs and cash were seized in Southwest Virginia, resulting in the arrest of 17 individuals with more arrests expected later in the week, according to a press release by the Southwest Virginia Drug Task Force.
The mass drug arrest began on June 17 in Big Stone Gap and Appalachia communities. There were 28 individuals with a total of 56 drug indictments targeted. There were 17 arrests made with the other subjects expected to be arrested later this week, according to the report.
