Surber and Fredericks
Two men were arrested on crack cocaine charges after a citizen tipped off police about a drug deal taking place in the parking lot of a Johnson City discount store Friday, according to court documents.
Cody L. Surber, 18, 2204 S. Greenwood Drive, Apt. 1, and Eric Fredericks, 21, 1230 Redford Drive, Atlanta, were each charged with one count of manufacture/delivery/sale of a controlled substance.
Surber was charged after a citizen told Johnson City police Surber was in a silver Chevrolet Malibu conducting a drug transaction in the Big Lots parking lot.
Police found Surber sitting in the vehicle when they arrived and found a white rock-like substance thought to be crack cocaine in the center console, according to court documents.
Surber was taken to police headquarters, where the substance was weighed at around 24 grams and was also sent off for testing.
Surber gave police permission to search his home, where Fredericks was found. Police said he admitted he had been fronted the drugs before coming to Johnson City that day, according to court documents.
Scales, glass pipes and more of the white rock-like substance was found in a kitchen cabinet at Surber’s home.
Surber and Fredericks were booked at the Washington County Detention Center and were each being held on $10,000 bonds.
They were both scheduled to appear in Sessions Court on Monday.
